Parents' Handbook

Parents are asked to see that their children do not bring toys from home. We will not be liable for any lost or damaged toys.

Toothbrush Time

Immediately after lunch the children brush their teeth. We supply each child with a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Diapers are changed on a regular basis and whenever there is a need for that. The changing mat is disinfected after each diaper change. Any soiled clothing will be returned to you in a plastic bag for laundering.

Toilet Training

Whenever you think your child is ready to begin the toilet training, please come to us to talk about it. It is necessary that teachers and parents devote their time and energy to encourage the child on a daily basis. During toilet training child should wear clothing that he/she can easily pull up and down (so no overalls, belts, bodies, etc.). And please send several changes of clothing and pull-ups each day.

Child's play is very spontaneous and challenging. Your child will be painting (we provide painting smocks), playing on the grass, in the sandbox, playing with chalk and various other materials. Please help us encourage this play by dressing your child in comfortable clothes.

Our outdoor activities don't take place in heavy rain or extreme cold. Therefore it's very important that they are dressed appropriate to the weather. We would appreciate it if you could write your child's name on all of his personal belongings.

Emergencies and Illness

Each family must complete an emergency form that will be kept at Teddy's House in case of emergencies or illnesses. Please inform us as soon as possible if your phone number or any other particulars change. In case of a serious accident or illness, the parent will be contacted immediately. The child has to be picked up within the hour. If the parent is not available we will notify the emergency contact person of the problem. The parents are required to sign a consent form that gives Teddy's House staff the permission to call the ambulance in the case of an emergency.

Teddy's House staff has to be informed about all sicknesses, allergies or disabilities you child might have - chronic or acute. Generally it is the teachers' decision how soon the child can rejoin the daily activities. Teddy's House doesn't accept any liability in case of secondary damage or a delay in a healing process. Please be aware that it is important for us to keep our environment as healthy as possible. In case of contagious sicknesses, like chicken pox, scarlet fever, mumps, lice, etc. your youngster should remain isolated from other kids until the risk of passing on the illness has passed.

Many kids with mild illnesses can safely and happily attend daycare. A cold, for example, most likely can be handled with some over-the-counter medicine. But to be sure, parents should always check with their kid's teacher for specific policies that apply to kids and illnesses. The parents are asked to call us till 9:00 a.m. if the child will stay at home that day. We will contact the parents to pick up their sick children and indicate to keep them at home if we notice any of the following signs:

  • If his/her measured temperature is over 38.3°C (indicating a fever)
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Heavy cough
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Rash or unusual spots
  • Contagious sickness like chickenpox, measles etc.

If a child gets sick at the daycare, we will do everything possible to attend the child properly until the parent or emergency contact person arrives.

In case of a contagious sickness in the daycare, all the parents will be informed via note on our "News" board. In special cases, we might demand a medical certificate before a child returns to Teddy's House.

Behavior Policy

The teachers at Teddy's House believe that children need understanding, easy-to-follow rules, and guidance in order to be confident, curious and independent learners. It's part of our job to make their interest area a successful learning experience. Our daily structured programs allow us to be flexible enough and spontaneous in our own unique ways.

Three simple rules that encompass our philosophy:

  • You may not hurt yourself
  • You may not hurt others
  • You may not damage things - furniture, toys, books etc.
Parents meeting

Our parents receive a daily report that gives information about our activities, child's behavior, food, etc. Furthermore we offer annual parents meeting, which we hold with parents of each child individually. Our parents are always welcome to ask for more appointments if necessary.

Thank you for your interest in Teddy's House Playschool. We hope that you decide to choose our daycare as your child's provider when you cannot be with them personally. Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions.
